In 1982 a bequest from Elisa Stoddard, Dianne B. Goodrich, William E. Curran and Richard L. Wanner, all residents of Woodbridge, made the Woodbridge Town Library a reality.
The Trust is administered by three Trustees. The Library Commission and the Friends of the Library each appointing one Trustee. These Trustees then appoint a third from the Woodbridge Community. The Trustees direct and oversee the investment of Trust funds and distribute income from the Trust for special Library purposes.
THE NEED FOR A TRUST
The Trust offers a vehicle to those who wish to make a lasting contribution to our community Library. Your investment does not replace the operation budget the library receives from the town. It supplements and broadens our capabilities to maintain a 21st Century facility with current technology and up-to-date collections of the growing interest in popular DVDs and best-selling fiction and non-fiction.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TRUST
The Trust accommodates a variety of contributions. The three Trustees will work with you and your financial advisors to ensure that you find the right match for your gift. One option is to donate a special contribution that perpetuates the memory of family or friends. Bequests and donations to the funds listed above sustain specific collections; or you may establish a new fund for a collection not yet created. Also, the Trustees are knowledgeable of the ever-changing needs of the library and will be happy to offer their own recommendations on how to best use your charitable donation.
All gifts to the Trust are tax deductible under the provisions of Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Commission.
Remember, the planning and support of the Library’s generous investors provide a strong foundation that will serve our community in the years to come.
